DUHAMIC-ADRI is a national non-governmental organization legally operating in Rwanda since 1985, the organization is implementing different programs focusing on economic empowerment, agriculture, environment protection and conservation, sensitization for social behavior change, emergency response and capacity building with focus to the most vulnerable population. DUHAMIC-ADRI is seeking a passionate and experienced Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of its Agri-value chain project. The required candidate will bring expertise in Agri-value chain programming, a strong background in project and stakeholders management, and the ability to deliver impactful results in rural and community-based settings.

Job Location: DUHAMIC-ADRI Head Office located in Kigali. 

Report to: Programs Manager.

Type of contract: One-year renewable based on performance.

The monthly salary: TBD.

Major responsibilities and deliverables:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for project planning, design and implementation; ensuring financial oversight and resource allocation; ensure the good collaboration with partners and stakeholders; team building; monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. He/She will also identify potential challenges (financial, operational, or contextual) that may affect the project implementation and propose appropriate solutions in collaboration with the organizational leadership. In addition, the Project Coordinator will ensure compliance with DUHAMIC-ADRI’s and Donors’ safeguarding standards, participate in resource mobilization, and serve as the primary focal person for the project, with the following tasks, among others:

  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement projects work plans and Budgets
  • Coach and mentor project staff to ensure achievement of project targets.
  • Ensure the quality of all project deliverables, including activities, outputs and documentation
  • Ensure coordination, documentation and sharing of project learnings and key adaptations.
  • Ensure sound project financial planning, management, logistical and operational structures, management in compliance with DUHAMIC-ADRI and donors’ policies and procedures
  • Prepare and submit the monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual planning meetings with stakeholders.
  • Ensure strategic and efficient management of project financial resources.
  • Review and consolidate regular progress reports in compliance with Donor and DUHAMIC’s requirements
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by his/her superior,
  • Represent the organization and the project at various levels.
  • Participate in the resource/fund’s mobilization 

Education background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture sciences, Crop production, Agribusiness. Having a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields or in project management is an added value.

Preferred experiences:

  • Having at least eight (8) years of proven experience in project management in the agriculture development sector with at least five (5) years of working experience in managing projects funded by development partners 
  • Willingness and openness to work in the agriculture sector in rural areas.
  • Ability to influence, engage effectively with the private sector, local authorities & governmental partners.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, able to work well under pressure both proactively and prioritize a challenging workload.
  • Good understanding of value chains development including maize, horticulture, mushroom, etc.
  • Experience working with producer groups and cooperatives composed by refugees, women and men, and persons with disabilities, the majority of whom being smallholder farmers.
  • Proven experience in budget preparation using different templates, execution and monitoring
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks with minimum supervision while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Having management skills with the ability of prioritization.
  • Facilitate the project’s activities implementation and ensure the periodic budget reviews and timely submission of financial reports to facilitate proper tracking of resource use.
  • Demonstrate strong experience in coordinating the projects supporting smallholder farmers under horticulture and livestock in the development partners.
  • Experience in analyzing, preparation, data review, studies and contributing to evaluation reports.
  • Having a strong and proven oral and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda 
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft word, Advanced excel, power point and Outlook.
  • Experience in resources/funds mobilization and capacity building including facilitating learning, coaching, and supporting learning across multiple stakeholders
  • The applicant must not be older than 45.
