Women for Women Rwanda (WfW-Rwanda) is a non-for-profit national NGO legally established in December 2020. The organization recently transitioned from Women for Women International (WfWI) that had been operating in Rwanda since 1997. Its mission seeks to support women and girls in Rwanda to break the vicious circle of poverty and social exclusion, by enabling them to become socially and economically capable to lead themselves and their community to better health, education, and social conditions. Since its establishment as a local organization, Women for Women Rwanda has been implementing different initiatives aiming at promoting women’s economic empowerment including supporting women to acquire different employable skills and wants to extend vocational skills training in Kayonza district, Nyamirama sector and Bugesera district in Mareba sector. Therefore, Women for Women Rwanda is looking for qualified agronomists/veterinaries to train women in vegetable production and animal husbandry vocational tracks.

Scope of Work and Objectives.

The consultant is expected to:

  1. Equip participants with Vegetable production and livestock (Goat rearing) skills training to improve their livelihood.
  2. Follow the training schedules as set by the organization
  3. Lead women cooperative members to have good vegetable farms as result of practical lessons in their respective communities/mash lands 

Duration of the contract 

Successful candidates will train women for 90 working days

Deliverables

  1. Conducting trainings to 150 women: 50 from Mareba sector,100 women from Nyamirama sector and equip them with theoretical and practical vegetable production and livestock skills
  2. Measure performance of the trainees by giving them monthly tests with a report to the EE department (using the format provided)
  3. Ensure all training equipment and raw materials are well managed and well used.
  4. Facilitate trainees and ensure all groups are sensitized about working in cooperatives.
  5. The trainer will facilitate trainees to open a bank account, and ensure good financial management for the income raised from their production during training
  6. Facilitate trainees to have their own committees
  7. Other deliverables as per the supervisor’s request as part of the effectiveness of the training

Trainers profile & requirements 

  • At least 3 years practical experience in delivering vegetable production and goat rearing trainings to the group of people (especially rural women)
  • Excellent knowledge of Kinyarwanda and English
  • Good communication skills
