Background

Akagera Management Company Ltd (AMC Ltd) is a public–private partnership between African Parks Network and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), mandated to manage Akagera National Park.

AMC Ltd is seeking to recruit a qualified, motivated, and results-oriented Rwandan to fill the position of Revenue Accountant at Akagera National Park.

Purpose of the Job

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for accurate recording, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of all company revenue. The role ensures that revenue is recognized in compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory requirements, while supporting audits, budgeting, and financial decision-making.

Duties and Key Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

  • Record and post all revenue transactions in the accounting system (Serenic Navigator) in accordance with the approved chart of accounts ensure revenue recognition complies with accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports
  • Reconcile revenue accounts with billing, sales, and cash receipts
  • Reconciliation between RRA Back-office Invoices with AMC Ledger.
  • Review contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue treatment
  • Monitor deferred and accrued revenue balances
  • Support internal and external audits by providing revenue-related documentation
  • Support preparation of tax annexures, VAT réconciliation, and statutory tax declarations related to revenue
  • Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies or variances
  • Collaborate with commercial Team and finance teams to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and revenue analysis
  • Verify that all sales invoices are supported by proof of payment and properly reflected in AMC accounts.

Knowledge and Skills

Minimum Education and Qualification Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional qualification in CPA advanced level or ACCA is required;
  • Strong knowledge of tax and revenue-related regulations;

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance
  • Proven experience in revenue accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Experience working in a multi-currency environment is an added advantage
  • Excellent degree of accuracy and attention to detail;

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (IFRS)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting systems (Serenic Navigator is an added advantage)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda
  • Willingness to live and work in a remote/rural setting
  • Strong alignment with African Parks values
