Position overview

The Senior Corporate Lawyer will provide high-level legal support across the company’s operations, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and supporting both local and international projects.

The role will also strengthen the Legal function by sharing workload, improving turnaround times, and ensuring consistent legal support across multiple business units and jurisdictions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Provide timely, practical, and business-oriented legal advice to management and internal teams
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, partnerships, and consultancy agreements
  • Support complex and high-value transactions, including government and cross-border contracts
  • Review and advise on bids, tenders, and RFPs, particularly for public sector and donor-funded projects
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Rwanda and in jurisdictions where the company operates
  • Identify legal risks and propose effective mitigation strategies across operations and projects
  • Support corporate governance requirements, including preparation and review of resolutions and legal documentation where needed
  • Work closely with the existing legal counsel to distribute workload efficiently and ensure timely delivery of legal services
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel on specialized matters or international engagements
  • Manage disputes, claims, and legal proceedings, and represent the company in negotiations where required
  • Contribute to the development, standardization, and improvement of legal templates, policies, and procedures
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams (HR, Finance, Procurement, Projects) on legal and compliance matters
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on potential impact to the business
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree (LLM) – either in Corporate/Company Law, or in Commercial/Business Law.in
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in corporate/commercial law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory
  • Experience handling high-volume and complex contracts
  • Exposure to international or cross-border projects is highly desirable
  • Experience in the technology, consulting, or public sector environment is an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law
