Background
Location: Rwanda Polytechnic, Kigali, Rwanda RwandaProperty Listings
Contract duration: Two years, renewable based on performance and institutional needs
Employment type: Full-time (40-hour work week including teaching, simulation supervision, and administrative tasks)
Coordination: All faculty work within Rwanda Polytechnic and coordinate with the Ministry of Health, Rwanda Biomedical Center - EMS Division, Rwanda Biomedical Centre, and teaching hospitals hosting clinical rotations
Responsibilities
Delivers, supervises, and evaluates training within the curriculum; supports the Program Head in academic management; leads module delivery in areas of expertise; and mentors Assistant Lecturers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver theoretical and practical instruction across assigned modules;
- develop lesson plans, case scenarios, and simulation exercises; and assess student competencies (written, OSCE, and field assessments).
- Contribute to course-material development and quality improvement; support simulation labs, skills stations, and assessment tools; and maintain academic records.
- Mentor Assistant Lecturers and take part in faculty meetings and training-of-trainers workshops.
- Support clinical partnerships and applied research, and contribute to scheduling, examinations, and quality-assurance reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services, General Medicine or any other related healthcare field; at least 5 years of experience; familiarity with tech-enabled simulation and digital health-enabled EMS practice; teaching, training, or mentoring experience in EMS, nursing, or medical education; and strong knowledge of emergency care protocols, triage, and ambulance operations
Desirable:
- Master's degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medicine, or Health Education; simulation-based education or skills-lab management; curriculum development; health-tech or digital health experience; with certification in ALS, PHTLS, ITLS and healthcare data protection
