Job Brief

Responsible for fabricating, assembling and repairing steel structures, machinery and piping systems in mining operations, with strong emphasis on safety, precision and welding expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble steel structures, frames, chutes, pipelines and other components per engineering drawings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on steel structures, conveyors and heavy equipment.
  • Apply MIG, TIG and arc welding techniques for repairs and modifications on site.
  • Ensure work complies with company safety policies, industry standards and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain tools/equipment and a clean, hazard-free work area.
  • Document fabrication/welding activities and report issues to the Welding Supervisor.
  • Support and train junior boilermakers/apprentices; be available for on-call emergency repairs.

Requirements:

  • TVET Certificate Level III in Welding Technology, Boilermaking or related field.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Boilermaker/Welder; mining or heavy industrial experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG and arc welding; ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Physically fit; willing to work at heights, underground, overtime and shifts including on-call duty.
