Introduction
CORDAID’s mission is to reduce fragility and people's vulnerability where it is most needed and most difficult: in fragile and conflict-affected settings. The combined strengths of ICCO Cooperation and Cordaid allow us to continue our successful and innovative approaches to market systems development and access to finance in Rwanda. The Cordaid experience provides resources and approaches to our livelihood programs and enables us to link our programs to Rwanda’s strategic objectives in climate, health, and education
Since January 2022 CORDAID – Rwanda is implementing a 1.5 years’ program named “Strengthening Agricultural Resilience through Learning and Innovation (STARLIT) under the financing support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project is mainly focusing on the Maize value chain with potential prospects on horticulture (vegetables for season C) in Kayonza district, aiming at strengthening smallholder farmers' resilience in the context of prolonged disasters, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. STARLIT purpose is to support farmers to recover from the impact of COVID-19 through facilitating access to digital agriculture information, financial services, markets and access to agricultural mechanization. The project targets 2,000 smallholder farmers (at least 45% women, and 40% youth) organized in 40 cooperatives.

Background of photography/ videography assignment
The objective of the commission is to document the status of beneficiaries accessing to digital agriculture information, financial services, markets and access to agricultural mechanization in Kayonza district”. The focus will be on telling stories through photographs, video and short anecdotes of individuals.
The photographer / videographer will produce material to support strong digital features including photo essays, videos and website feature stories. The photographer/videographer is encouraged to capture interesting or unique images even if they don’t necessarily fall into the scope of the commission. As the focus is on storytelling and documenting the landscape and people, Cordaid is looking for a creative, insightful photographer / videographer to produce a strong portfolio. The photos and video footages from the commissioned trip will be used for non-commercial purpose.
A detailed brief per field story will be provided.
At this stage we are looking for expressions of interest supported by
• Portfolio of work
• Daily rates

Deliverables
The photographer / videographer will deliver photos, videos including interviews and notes on locations and interviewees in the required formats within fifteen days of the completion of each commission.
• Minimum 5 best sort edited video and 50 second best edited Digital Images in high resolution JPEG format delivered with shared copyright ownerships between Cordaid and the Photographer / Videographer throughout the World.
• A 3-5 minute HD quality video per brief including translation based on Cordaid & IFAD signed off storyboard.
• Raw footage of video undertaken in the field
• Interviews with story focal points – translated
• Any appropriate signed Model or Property Release Forms, if a person or a private property was mainly highlighted in the photograph, shall be delivered with the Images and Caption Information.

Expected Profile
• Previous experience in undertaking photo / video assignment for an organization with demonstrated attractive professional portfolio.
• Understanding of local context and developments in the project area (understanding local language is essential)
• Well equipped with professional grade photography / videography equipment
• Proven postproduction experience creating photo and video stories
• Demonstrate an understanding of the communication requirements of a non-profit organization
• Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms

Insurance
Cordaid does not provide any insurance coverage for its commissioned Photographers /
Videographers and cannot be held responsible for any accident to the person of the
Photographer / Videographer nor to his/her equipment (hired or otherwise).

Payment of Fees

A total payment will only be made in full by Cordaid to the Photographer / Videographer upon satisfactory receipt of all agreed deliverables. No further fees will be due to the Photographer / Videographer.
• 30% of this fee will be made in advance to the Photographer upon agreement of this contract to help cover initial costs.
• The remaining fees will be made to the Photographer within sixty days of the satisfactory Delivery of both Images and comprehensive and complete Caption Information from the Photographer to Cordaid.
