JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Trainer (Practical-Oriented)

Department: Training and Capacity Building

Reports to: Training Manager / Managing Director

Duty Station: BYTE BRIDGE TECHNOLOGIES LTD

1. Job Purpose

The Trainer is responsible for providing hands-on, practical-based training to students undertaking Industrial Attachment (IAP/Internship) in Information and Communication Technology–related disciplines. The role focuses on equipping trainees with practical skills, professional ethics, and workplace readiness aligned with industry standards.

2. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical-oriented training to students in the following disciplines:
    • Networking and Internet Technology (NIT)
    • Computer Systems and Architecture (CSA)
    • Electronics
    • Software Development
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions including, but not limited to:
    • Computer assembly, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
    • Network installation, configuration, and basic security
    • Software development fundamentals (web and application development)
    • Electronics practical work and diagnostics
  • Prepare and implement training plans, lesson plans, practical exercises, and assessments, with emphasis on hands-on competence.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide students during daily practical activities and project work.
  • Assess students’ performance based on practical skills, discipline, teamwork, and professional conduct.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on students’ attendance, performance, and overall progress to management and partner institutions.
  • Promote and enforce workplace ethics, safety standards, professionalism, and discipline among trainees.
  • Ensure proper use, safety, and maintenance of training equipment, tools, and laboratories.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of training programs and practical curricula.
  • Collaborate with other staff in training delivery and organizational activities.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

3. Required Qualifications

A. Advanced Diploma (A1)

  • Advanced Diploma in one of the following fields:
    • Information Technology
    • Networking
    • Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
  • Must have completed studies from 2022 to date
  • Strong hands-on practical skills are mandatory

B. Bachelor Degree

  • Bachelor in Technology (BTech) in Information Technology or related ICT field
  • ⚠️ General Bachelor degrees (non-BTech) will not be considered.

4. Required Competencies and Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated strong practical (hands-on) skills in at least one of the following areas:
    • Networking
    • Software Development
    • Computer Hardware and Systems
    • Electronics
  • Ability to effectively train, coach, and mentor students in a workshop or laboratory environment.
  • Ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical demonstrations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Ability to prepare training materials, practical exercises, assessments, and reports.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

5. Professional Ethics and Confidentiality

  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion when handling students’ and company information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with company policies and professional standards.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and responsibility.

6. Additional Advantages

  • Previous experience in training, mentoring, or supervising students during Industrial Attachment (IAP).
  • Relevant industry certifications in Networking, Software Development, Electronics, or related ICT fields.
  • Ability to manage multiple groups of trainees simultaneously.
  • Deliver practical-oriented training to students in the following disciplines: Networking and Internet Technology (NIT), Computer Systems and Architecture (CSA), Electronics, Software Development
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions including, but not limited to: Computer assembly, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; Network installation, configuration, and basic security; Software development fundamentals (web and application development); Electronics practical work and diagnostics
