Tutorial Assistant Department of Social Sciences Education (DSSE) Under Contract - CE
Responsibilities or duties
1. Teaching
- Assist lecturers in preparation field work and practices
- Assist lecturers in invigilation and marking of courses in his/her area of specialization
- Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students through continual assessment tests and examinations
- Participate in organization of practices in classrooms, library and laboratories.
2. Research
- Participate in research proposals implementation trough data collection and entry for analysis,
- Participate in the elaboration of research protocols.
- Participate in research activities aiming at solving community problems
- Participate in publishing research results at national, regional and international levels
3. Community Outreach
- Participate in dissemination of research findings to relevant stakeholders
- Conduct research projects which may lead to PhD studies
- Participate in organizing national scientific conferences
4. Consultancy
- Conduct consultancy activities in his area of specialization
- Compete successfully for income generating consultancies
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
5. Relevant Qualifications:
Five (5) Tutorial Assistant with Bachelor's Degree with at least a second class upper division or at least 70% in one of the following:
- Three(3) Tutorial Assistant with Bachelor's degree in Geography or Bachelor of arts with education in History-Geography/Biology-Geography/Mathematics-Geography/Economics-Geography or Bachelor of social sciences with education or Geography with QTS or Bachelor of education with honors in History-Geography/Geography-Economics/Mathematics-Geography/Physics-Geography
- Two (2) Tutorial Assistant with Bachelor's degree in History or Bachelor of arts with education in History-Geography or Bachelor of social sciences with education History with QTS or Bachelor of education with honors in History-Geography
6. Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Relevant teaching experience in Higher Learning Institutions.
- Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or a validated Teaching Portfolio Certificate.
