Communication Officer job at World Vision International
Job Description
As a key member of the Dukore Twigire Project (DTP) team, the Communication Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communication plan. This includes creating content for various media platforms, supporting public relations activities, ensuring visibility and branding, monitoring media coverage, and coordinating the production and dissemination of communication materials. The Officer will also work closely with project teams to document and share successes and ensure compliance with reporting standards. This role involves significant travel within Rwanda and requires strong communication, creative, and technical skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Planning, Coordination, and Implementation (50%)
- Develop and implement a communication plan for the Dukore Twigire Project (DTP).
- Create and review a variety of communication products such as stories, documentaries, brochures, press releases, and presentations.
- Coordinate communication activities and content collection from the field.
- Offer technical support in communications and maintain the visibility of the project.
- Support event planning and speech writing for key stakeholders.
Collaboration, Adaptation, and Learning (30%)
- Ensure broad visibility of the Kora Wigire PAC program via various platforms.
- Strengthen brand presence and promote awareness of DTP.
- Liaise with key stakeholders and media for press relations and event coverage.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (20%)
- Monitor media and communication impact, conduct analytics, and gather feedback.
- Document project milestones, success stories, and innovations.
- Contribute to quarterly, annual, and government reports.
- Share regular media reviews with leadership.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in communications, advocacy, or public relations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda.
- Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Skilled in photography and videography.
- Strong organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel within Rwanda up to 50% of the time.
