Overview

The institution invites applications for the position of ICT Officer. This role involves the maintenance, administration, and advancement of the institution’s ICT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure effective IT operations, network performance, data integrity, and user support across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot network systems, computer hardware, and software issues
  • Monitor ICT system performance and ensure quick response times for end users
  • Plan, develop, and implement ICT action plans and budgets
  • Ensure 24/7 availability and security of ICT infrastructure and systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain computers, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Coordinate ICT equipment inventory and handle relocation logistics
  • Schedule and execute software and hardware updates, upgrades, and security backups
  • Maintain relationships with external ICT vendors and service providers
  • Support AV equipment setups for workshops, training, and presentations
  • Ensure compliance with software license regulations
  • Provide timely IT support across departments
  • Ensure data confidentiality and implement secure ICT systems
  • Assist HR in developing user training programs to improve ICT awareness and skills
  • Remove and dispose of non-functional ICT equipment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following (no prior work experience required):

  • Software Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • ICT Engineering
  • Information Technology Management
  • Computer Applications

Required Competencies and Technical Skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in ICT infrastructure: TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, MPLS, and mobile/fixed networks
  • Hardware maintenance: PC, printers, scanners, and peripherals
  • Experience in desktop support, network, and system administration
  • Understanding of ICT equipment specifications and procurement standards
  • Knowledge of operating systems, antivirus programs, and software applications
  • Ability to convert user needs into technical strategies
  • Strong decision-making, confidentiality, and integrity
  • Ability to communicate with discretion on sensitive ICT issues
  • Fluency in English is required; Kinyarwanda and/or French is an added advantage

  3. Oral Interview
