Job Purpose

The Nursery Teacher Assistant supports the Nursery Teacher in delivering high-quality early years education in English. The role focuses on assisting in classroom activities, supporting children’s learning and development, and ensuring a safe, caring, and engaging environment for young learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nursery Teacher in delivering lessons in English
  • Support children during learning activities, playtime, and routines
  • Help prepare teaching materials and classroom resources
  • Supervise learners to ensure safety and well-being at all times
  • Support individual learners who need extra attention or guidance
  • Encourage positive behavior and social interaction among children
  • Assist with classroom organization and daily routines
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Support outdoor and indoor learning activities
  • Participate in school events and early years activities

Learner Support and Welfare

  • Provide emotional support and care to young children
  • Help children develop independence, confidence, and social skills
  • Support inclusion of all learners regardless of ability
  • Observe and report any concerns regarding child development or behavior

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Nursery Teacher and school staff
  • Communicate appropriately with parents when required through the teacher
  • Support a positive relationship between school and families
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions

Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow school policies and early years guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Support continuous improvement in early childhood learning practices
  • Take part in professional development activities

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Passion for working with young children

Experience Required

Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with young children (Nursery/Early Years).
