Job Purpose

The French Teacher (First Language) is responsible for teaching French as a first language to students, ensuring strong development in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills. The role also includes preparing students for DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) examinations, supporting academic excellence in French language acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach French as a first language in line with the school curriculum
  • Develop students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking French
  • Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated lessons
  • Prepare students for DELF examinations (A1, A2, B1, B2 where applicable)
  • Teach grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression effectively
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback
  • Develop students’ confidence in using French in academic and real-life contexts
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and language-rich classroom environment
  • Support students with varying levels of French proficiency
  • Integrate literature, culture, and communication skills into lessons
  • Collaborate with other teachers to support cross-curricular language development

Assessment and Learning Progress

  • Conduct continuous assessment of language skills
  • Track and document student progress in all language competencies
  • Use formative and summative assessments aligned with DELF standards
  • Prepare students for mock exams and official DELF preparation activities
  • Provide targeted support for students needing additional help

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a disciplined and engaging classroom environment
