Centre of Excellence for Crop Biotechnology Manager

Responsibilities or duties

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all scientific, technical, and administrative operations of the Centre of Excellence for Crop Biotechnology (COECB)
• Provide strategic leadership for biotechnology research, capacity building, and infrastructure development in line with RAB and national priorities.
• Coordinate implementation of COECB activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Supervise scientists, technicians, and support staff under COECB; ensure performance management and capacity development.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety, regulatory, stewardship, and quality management requirements (BSL-2 laboratories and screenhouses).
• Coordinate development, review, and enforcement of SOPs for laboratories, greenhouses, and screenhouses.
• Prepare technical reports, regulatory data packages and regulatory dossier
• Support resource mobilization, partnerships, and institutional visibility of the Centre.
• Strengthening collaboration with other national, regional and international laboratories
• Undertake any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor
