About the Role:

To provide technical support in designing the teachers’ guide and training manual, conducting training for play leaders, and supporting the team in mobilizing parents and the community for play-based activities. Additionally, to provide technical support in designing and developing local play materials for the play labs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Effective teaching materials /trainings/ workshop/ meetings deliverance in the project

  • Provide support for designing teachers guide and contextualizing the play lab curriculum and parenting manual.
  • Prepare monthly lesson plan and timetable before refresher training.
  • Conduct monthly refresher training and need-based training.
  • Conduct business training for the microenterprise play leaders.
  • Provide support for preparing the training manual, handouts and other learning materials
  • Provide on-spot training to the play leaders if needed.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and revision of curriculum in keeping with best practices.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of training sessions and maintain records of trainees’ progress and achievements.
  • Conduct informal research and consult with BI team for curriculum development and training design purposes.

2. Effective provision of capacity building to staff and play leaders

  • Proved updates on play lab and education matters in general.
  • Provide on job training to project team and play leaders in play-based content.
  • Build the capacity of other staff on refresher and need-based training for play leaders.
  • Ensure monthly play leaders’ performance assessment regarding curriculum deliverance in play labs.
  • Participate in different capacity-building trainings to enhance professional skills.

3. Availability of play materials in play labs

  • Provide training to play leaders on low-cost and recycled play and learning materials design.
  • Ensure the presence of play and learning materials in all play labs (indoor and outdoor) according to play activities in the teachers guide.
  • Prepare play materials database and update in a quarterly basis.
  • Monthly designing of play materials in play labs in collaboration with parents, community and play leaders.
  • Create awareness to parents in enhancing them in making local play materials for play labs.
  • Develop local play making guide books with support from the project team and communication department.

4. Coordination, Networking and Advocacy to project

  • Establish strong working relationships with the project team, government officials, and stakeholders at organizational, district, and regional levels.
  • Organize and lead internal and external workshops for reviewing the teachers’ guide, training manual, and other relevant documents.
  • Participate in project and stakeholder meetings at the sector level and play lab centers, as required.
  • Support the team to form and follow up on the ECD center management committees.
  • Promote the self-empowerment of children, parents, and communities in play lab centers.
  • Ensure effective advocacy with local authorities at district and regional levels and integrate them into program delivery.
  • Link children in play lab centers with available services in their communities.
  • Adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all relevant regulations.

5. Child Protection

  • Promote and ensure child rights-based programming at field and office level.
  • Promote and abide by internal policies and procedures including child protection policy.
  • Ensuring mandatory reporting to child abuse cases in play lab project operation.
  • Promote and facilitate child rights and gender inclusion based on play lab project at field level.
  • Ensuring Child Protection Committees at play lab centers are fully functional.
  • Ensuring all project team and relevant others, including play lab leaders, parents and project stakeholders are aware and have access to child protection policy, contents and their responsibilities it places on it.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Develop and submit to the Project Manager monthly, field progress, and adhoc reports in a timely manner.
  • Support the team to document well project success stories/ case studies/ best practices/lessons learned and submit to the area manager.
  • Ensure and monitor downward accountability to stakeholders especially children and communities including documenting what works for wider sharing across BRAC, government, and donor.
  • Observe and report the project properties are well kept at play lab centers and office.
  • Support the team in maintaining children’s attendance, center performance, and expenditure registers.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the ECD & Education Technical Coordinator.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation.
  • Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Major Challenges:

High need of creativity in designing and updating the local play materials since is the major component we use in play-based model.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • 50% of availability of local play materials in each play lab in each month.
  • 100% improvement in children based in growth and development domains (physical, emotional, communication and cognitive).
  • 100% of play leaders’ understanding in monthly sessions based on monthly refresher training which should be delivered to children.
  • Presence of 2 staff development meetings per month.
  • Monthly submission of training/ workshop/ meeting and material development reports.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver training and obtain feedback through presentations to potentially unreceptive or critical audiences.
  • Prepare and provide clear, concise and complete verbal and written information at a level appropriate to the audience.

Academic Qualifications:

University Degree (Bachelor in Social work, Early childhood development, sociology and education or any other related fields).
