About the Role

The selected candidate will be based in our offices in Kigali where one of our subsidiaries, Salvo Grima Rwanda Ltd (SGR), was established in 2020. Today, SGR employs over 100 team members. SGR is a distribution company and represents a growing number of world-leading manufacturers including Prohealth, Unilever, Danone, British American Tobacco, Kellogg’s, SC Johnson, Mondelez International, KimFay and Mars Wrigley.

The Finance Clerk will be under the responsibility of The Senior Accountant. He/She will report directly to the “Payables & Cost Accountant”. He/She will also work closely with all other departments of the company, most notably the finance department.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

More specifically, the “Finance Clerk” shall be tasked with:

  • Daily reconciliation of DSR sales, returns and payment received
  • Record sales invoice and payment in ERP
  • Verifying all purchase orders/requisitions, incoming statements, invoices, and expense claims for authentication in conjunction with appropriate personnel prior to petty cash disbursements.
  • Raising Export Invoice and Proforma
  • Posting bank transactions
  • Maintaining and properly recording petty cash transactions and updating prices in Navision
  • Receive clients cheques and ensure their timely banking
  • Uploading transactions onto RRA dedicated portal for non-EBM supported expenses incurred
  • Ensuring that all supplier invoices and payment proofs are properly kept on file for further reference
  • Assisting in the month-end closing procedure in finance department, especially in areas that are directly linked to his/her scope of activities
  • Demonstrating good understanding of the chart of accounts in Navision
  • Ensuring that financial transactions to be recorded comply with company policies and procedures
  • Participating in professional development training towards increased competence to align theory and practice
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Relevant professional qualification/ certification would be an added advantage.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of accounting software is an added value.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards and Rwandan Tax law.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
