Background
Trinity Musha Mines Ltd is a Mining company focused on the production and exploration of Tin, Tantalum, and Lithium in Rwanda. Trinity Musha is currently looking for a highly motivated and committed Finance Manager.
Job Purpose
The Finance manager is responsible for ensuring strong financial management, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning to support the mine’s operational performance and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
I. Financial Reporting and Systems Management
- Ensure accurate, timely, and IFRS-compliant financial reports for Management, the Board, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare management reports including variance analysis, operational cost insights, and financial performance reviews.
- Ensure reliability, accuracy, and reconciliation of financial data across systems.
- Support the implementation and improvement of reporting tools such as detailed management accounts.
II. Strategic Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Advise the General Manager on long-term financial planning based on financial analysis, operational forecasts, and market conditions.
- Coordinate and manage the Mine’s annual budgeting and business planning processes.
- Assists on development of financial models to support expansion projects, mine development, and rehabilitation obligations.
- Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews and strategic planning meetings.
- Provide assistance on financial valuation of capital project application
III. Cost Management and Operational Financial Control
- Monitor operational costs related to mining and processing operations and support costs.
- Implement cost control systems and conduct variance analysis to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Track C1 and AISC costs and analyze deviations from approved budgets.
- Evaluate, contribution margins, support costs, and overall financial performance against business plans.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation
IV. Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Management
- Evaluate, monitor, and report on capital expenditure projects including plant expansion, equipment replacement, and mine development.
- Ensure all capital expenditure approvals comply with the Company’s Delegation of Authority (DOA), Capital Allocation Policies and Capital and Non-Routine Expenditure Application process.
- Track capital project spending and ensure alignment with approved budgets and timelines.
- Perform Post Implementation Review on applicable capital projects
V. Compliance, Governance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, Rwandan tax and mining laws, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and financial governance standards.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and implement audit recommendations.
VI. Mineral Revenue and Export Accounting Accounting& Auditing
- Oversee accounting for mineral sales, and foreign exchange impacts.
- Ensure proper monitoring and reporting of export taxes, royalties, and regulatory permits.
VII. Cash Flow and Payroll Management
- Monitor mine cash flow and prepare regular cash flow forecasts.
- Implement cost control and cash optimization initiatives.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.
VIII. Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and supervise the Finance Team to ensure effective financial processes and strong internal controls.
- Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities, including CPA/ACCA support programs.
- Monitor team performance and ensure effective finance organizational structure.
IX. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Operations, Procurement, HR, and other departments to align financial planning with operational activities.
- Support management in evaluating operational performance and implementing improvement initiatives.
X. Other Duties
- Perform any other duties assigned by the General Manager or Management in support of mining operations, financial control, or capital project evaluation.
Job Requirements
The Finance Manager should have the following education, experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Certified Accountant CPA/ACCA
- Knowledgeable in Rwanda tax rulings
- MS Office application and analytical skills
- Experience in using accounting software.
- Knowledge in tax and audits in Rwanda
- Proven 5 years of experience in similar role
