The Role
Lyon Mining Services Ltd is seeking a motivated and technically competent Mining Geologist to join our technical team.
The Geologist will support geological activities across various mining and explorationprojects, including geological mapping, sampling, logging, mineral identification, grade control, geological data collection and interpretation, resource evaluation, and geological reporting.
The position involves regular fieldwork at mining and exploration sites across Rwanda and close collaboration with mining engineers, surveyors, processing teams, mine operators, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, logging, and mineral identification at mining andexploration sites.
- Support grade control, orebody interpretation, and geological data collection.
- Prepare geological maps, sections, sampling records, and technical reports.
- Interpret geological and assay data to support mine planning and production activities.
- Assist with exploration, resource evaluation, and geological modelling.
- Collaborate with mining, survey, processing, and operational teams.
- Maintain accurate geological databases, sample records, and field documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and professional standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Mining Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Practical knowledge of mining or exploration geology.
- Good understanding of geological mapping, sampling, logging, grade control, and mineral identification.
- Ability to interpret geological and assay data and prepare clear technical reports.
- Familiarity with GIS, geological, CAD, or mine-planning software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, and fieldwork skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly and work at mining sites across Rwanda.
- Good command of English; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French is an advantage.
