Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Cambridge International Curriculum, ensuring students achieve academic success while developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and strong character.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Promote inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans and schemes of work.

2. Assessment and Student Progress

  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Prepare students for Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS, and A Level exams where applicable.
  • Provide timely feedback to support student improvement.
  • Analyze assessment data and apply strategies for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.

3. Classroom Management

  • Maintain high standards of behavior and discipline.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Enforce school policies consistently.

4. Student Welfare and Pastoral Care

  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Act as a class tutor/homeroom teacher when assigned.
  • Identify and support students needing additional help.
  • Collaborate with parents and school leadership to support student success.

5. Communication and Parent Engagement

  • Communicate professionally with parents on student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in parent meetings and school conferences.
  • Respond to parent concerns in a timely and respectful manner.

6. Professional Development

  • Participate in Cambridge and school-based training.
  • Stay updated with best teaching practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth and reflection.

7. Co-Curricular Activities

  • Support school events, clubs, trips, and activities.
  • Contribute to the wider school community.

8. Administrative Duties

  • Submit lesson plans, assessments, and reports on time.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions.
  • Monitor and check students’ diaries regularly to ensure proper use and completion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related subject with teaching qualification (PGCE/Diploma in Education or equivalent).
  • Valid teaching certification (where applicable).
  • Cambridge training is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience in secondary education.
  • Experience with Cambridge curriculum (IGCSE/AS/A Level) preferred.
  • Experience integrating ICT in teaching is an advantage.
