Rutongo Mines Ltd is a Tin Mining Company, situated in Masoro Sector, Rulindo District, Northern Province. The Management of Rutongo Mines Ltd informs the public that it is recruiting Internal and external Competent, Qualified and Experienced staff for the following position:

Job Purpose:

The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for conducting and supervising laboratory analyses of geological samples to ensure accurate and timely results. The role oversees sample preparation, analytical processes, and quality control while guiding junior laboratory staff to support mining and exploration operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and supervise laboratory analysis of geological samples (rocks, soils, ores).
  • Interpret and validate analytical results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Oversee sample preparation processes including crushing, splitting, and pulverizing.
  • Ensure proper implementation of QAQC procedures and standards.
  • Supervise Laboratory Technicians, Graduate Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants in daily activities.
  • Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and storage of all laboratory samples.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning.
  • Review and compile laboratory data and prepare reports for geologists and management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and laboratory protocols.
  • Train and mentor junior laboratory staff to improve performance and skills.
  • Monitor laboratory consumables and coordinate replenishment.
  • Identify and implement improvements in laboratory processes and efficiency.
  • Performs any other task/s required by his/her Superior or and Management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Geology, Laboratory Sciences, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in laboratory analysis, preferably in mining or mineral processing.
  • Strong understanding of analytical techniques and laboratory QAQC processes.
  • Experience in supervising or coordinating laboratory teams is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with laboratory information systems is an advantage.
