Requirements & Skills
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a closely related field from a recognized university.
Specialized training and commitment to Child Safeguarding and Protection is an added advantage.
2–3 years working experience with high school aged children in a counseling capacity.
Empathy, integrity, patience, discretion and cultural competency to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills are essential for handling sensitive situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly and effectively with students, parents, staff and the community.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and organize workshops, seminars and programs/awareness campaigns addressing bullying, substance abuse, stress management, mental health and conflict resolution.
- Offer individual and group counseling for issues affecting students.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments and interventions.
- Serve as a student advocate and systems change agent within the school.
- Provide crisis intervention and identify learners at risk.
- Be able to provide positive mentorship and act as a role model offering guidance, support and a listening ear.

A steadfast commitment to ethical and legal standards including strict confidentiality is non-negotiable.
