We are currently seeking a highly qualified and motivated Financial Accountant to join our team at our Head Office in Kigali.
Title: Financial Accountant
Report to: Head of Finance
Based at: Kigali
Purpose:
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing budgets and cash flow, and providing timely financial reports to support decision-making. The Financial Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial discipline and supporting the company’s operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile financial discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, filing obligations, and statutory reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and group finance as required
- Taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures
- Collaborating with an executive team in establishing more effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of a company’s ledger.
- Monitor and manage daily cash positions across multiple bank accounts
- Prepare and update rolling cash flow forecasts (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Process and record payments, fund transfers, and intercompany transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly
- Liaise with banks regarding account maintenance, FX rates, and new product offerings
- Ensure treasury transactions are compliant with internal controls and regulatory requirements, ensuring that an organization meets the necessary tax, permit and licensing requirements
- Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures
- Providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support
- Must be able to work independently and achieve great results
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA Rwanda or equivalent) – preferred
- Minimum 5–6 years of progressive experience in accounting roles
- Solid understanding of Rwandan tax laws and IFRS
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Self-reliant and able to work independently.
- Collaboration and ability to function as part of a team
- Time management, planning and organizational skills
- Results orientation/driven
