Purpose of the Position
The Project Facilitator – Livelihood and Self-Reliance is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities in refugee camps and host communities. The role focuses on collaboration with partners involved in livelihoods and resilience to positively impact the well-being of vulnerable children.
Major Responsibilities

Participate in project planning, review, budgeting, and ensure effective implementation in refugee camps and host communities. |

Identify, train, and coordinate project volunteers to support and monitor beneficiaries. Facilitate the formation of savings and credit groups. |

Enroll and profile beneficiaries using LMMS or other data systems; maintain accurate progress records. |
20% |
Facilitate training sessions and dialogues for beneficiaries on Empowered World View, Entrepreneurship, and Gender. |
10% |
Mobilize beneficiaries to join savings groups and producer groups for peer learning and collective action. |
20% |
Ensure beneficiaries attend technical training relevant to selected livelihood activities using approved resilience and livelihood models. |
10% |
Prepare and facilitate beneficiaries to access productive assets through cash transfers to support their livelihoods. |
5% |
Collect and share data regularly with the project M&E specialist and relevant staff. |
5% |
Support project evaluations, document success stories, and maintain a database of best practices, images, and videos. |
Qualifications
Required Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years working in economic development or related sectors.
- Experience partnering with refugee camps, community groups, and/or government agencies.
- Familiarity with economic development models such as:
- Saving Groups
- Local Value Chain Development (LVCD)
- Business Facilitation (BF)
- Microfinance
- Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA)
- Farmer Managed Natural Resources (FMNR)
- Citizen Voice and Action (CVA)
- Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM)
- Strong budgeting and financial tracking skills.
- Skilled in report writing, facilitation, training, and monitoring.
Required Education and Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness, Rural Development, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
(If the degree is from a foreign institution, an equivalency certificate from the Rwanda Higher Education Council is required.)
- Valid Class A Motorcycle Driving License.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Strong skills in financial management and economic development.
- Understanding of community development, empowerment, and mentoring approaches.
- Experience in:
- Business development services
- Small business financing
- Market analysis and research
- Knowledge of M&E tools (e.g., log frames, Kobo Toolbox).
- Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.
- Networking ability and a business-oriented mindset.
Work Environment and Travel
- Must be physically fit to ride a motorcycle and hold a valid license.
Ability to drive a vehicle is an added advantage.
- 70% domestic travel is required to project areas.
- Frequent interaction with local partners and government agencies.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda (spoken and written).
- French is an added advantage.
