The senior steel structural erection technician shall be responsible for leading the team for the assembling and installing steel structures according to blueprints and specifications. This shall include using cranes and other lifting equipment to position steel components, aligning and bolting steel parts, and ensuring the structural integrity of the framework. The technician will also adhere to safety regulations, maintain equipment, and collaborate with other construction professionals. 

The successful candidate will be expected to commence their employment within not more than 1month from that date of confirmation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the layout and assembly of steel structures. 
  • Safely operating cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment to move and position steel components. 
  • Assemble and installing steel girders, columns, beams, and other structural members, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections. 
  • Using bolts, welds, or other methods to connect steel components, ensuring the structural integrity of the framework. 
  • Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards. 
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety procedures. 
  • Work closely with other construction professionals, such as project managers, engineers, and other erectors, to coordinate work and resolve issues. 
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and reporting any maintenance needs. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Site Preparation: Preparing the site for steel erection, including laying metal decking and installing safety netting. 
  • Material Handling: Unloading, stacking, and moving steel components as needed. 
  • Welding/Bolting: Performing welding, bolting, and other tasks as required for connecting steel components. 
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining records of work completed and materials used. 
  • Reporting: Reporting progress and any issues to supervisors. 
  • Training and Mentorship: May be involved in training or mentoring less experienced workers. 

Minimum skills, experience & Academics qualification;

  • A Minimum of a Trades certificate relevant to the position.
  • Atleast 10 Years’ experience in similar field and having successfully worked on Atleast 3 steel assembling structures.
  • Understanding and experience surrounding the interpretation of schematic drawings and deriving required materials, tools, manpower and equipment required.
  • Ability to communicate in English besides any other language known.
