Driver at Rwanda Environment Management Authority 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Vehicle Management & Maintenance:
    • Update the logbook of project vehicles daily.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of VCRP/SPIU project vehicles.
    • Safeguard all vehicle identification documents.
    • Maintain and update inventories of vehicle accessories (jack, first aid kit, etc.).
    • Ensure vehicle insurance and traffic compliance documents are always valid.
  2. Transportation & Courier Services:
    • Provide safe transportation for VCRP staff and authorized personnel.
    • Collect and deliver official couriers as required.
    • Maintain strong knowledge of routes within the operational area.
  3. Safety & Compliance:
    • Report vehicle accidents following traffic regulations.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and traffic rules diligently.
    • Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all operations.
  4. Communication & Customer Service:
    • Exhibit excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with staff and partners.
    • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Additional Duties:
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Support other logistics tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering OR
    • A2 Certificate in Electronics and Telecommunication OR
    • Certification in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
  • Driving License: Category B & D (mandatory).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in:
    • Vehicle maintenance and logistics (public sector or development partners preferred).
    • Professional driving and fleet management.

Required Competencies & Skills:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
    • Basic reporting skills.
    • Vehicle mechanics and troubleshooting.
  • Behavioral Skills:
    • Accountability and professionalism.
    • Strong client/citizen focus.
    • Trustworthiness and integrity.
    • Teamwork and coordination abilities.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Fluent in Kinyarwanda, Swahili, English, and/or French (knowledge of all is an advantage).

  • Self-awareness and professionalism.
  • Behavioral adaptability and positive attitude.
  • Coordination and teamwork.
  • Awareness of own abilities and aptitudes.
