Land Husbandry Officers at Rwanda Water Resources Board
The Land Husbandry Specialist will be responsible for:
- Implementation & Monitoring:
- Monitor the implementation of land husbandry activities.
- Ensure all operational activities align with the work plan.
- Inspect buffer zones of rivers, natural and artificial water reservoirs, reporting on their status.
- Propose best land husbandry techniques to restore encroached areas.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Document and report major achievements, practices, and challenges in land husbandry.
- Provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Produce land husbandry activities status reports.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Facilitation:
- Facilitate a collaborative working environment among supervising companies, contractors, district staff, and local communities.
- Ensure result-oriented project execution.
- Awareness & Capacity Building:
- Prepare and implement education and public awareness programs on land husbandry.
- Develop and implement land husbandry activity plans and roadmaps.
- Other Duties:
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications & Experience
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (0 years of experience required) in any of the following fields:
- Forestry Ecosystem Management
- Integrated Watershed Management
- Natural Resources Management
- Soil and Water Management
- Soil and Environmental Management
- Community Forestry and Agroforestry
Required Competencies & Key Technical Skills
Core Competencies:
- Results-oriented mindset
- Decision-making skills
- Time management
- Risk management
- Digital literacy
Technical Skills:
- Resource management
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintenance of land husbandry practices
- Working knowledge of planting, turf maintenance, irrigation, and fertilizers
- Knowledge of good agricultural practices (GAP)
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French (knowledge of all is an advantage).
